Olly Butterworth is in his second stint with the British Bobsleigh team having initially started the sport in the summer of 2019 before leaving in 2021 and rejoining ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

He made his GB debut in both the 2-man and 4-man races at the Europa Cup competition in Altenberg in December 2019, finishing sixth in the later before recording the same result a week later in Winterberg.

His World Cup debut followed at the start of January when he finished 13th in the 4-man race with Lamin Deen, Ryan Letts and Ben Simons and he was a regular in Deen's crew throughout the remainder of the season.

Olly's first international season ended with a World Championship appearance as he finished 20th in Altenberg alongside Deen, Simons and Tremayne Gilling.

He switched sports in 2021 when he was partway through his second season in bobsleigh to play professional rugby league with Sheffield Eagles, Doncaster and York Knights but he returned to the BBSA in the summer of 2024.

Olly was selected to the GBR2 crew on the World Cup circuit for the 2024/25 season, racing in 2-man and 4-man competition and making the World Championship team in both disciplines.

A serving Paratrooper who has taken part in various overseas exercises since passing out in 2018, Olly began his bobsleigh career with the Parachute Regiment team in the 2018/19 season.
