Adam Baird joined the GB Bobsleigh set up as a pilot ahead of the 2019/20 sliding season and has gone on to represent the country at both World Cup and World Championship level.

He made his GB debut in Winterberg on the Europa Cup (EC) circuit in December 2019, when he finished 24th alongside Taylor Lawrence. 

Adam made 28 appearances on the EC circuit before stepping up to World Cup competition in Lillehammer in January 20224 when he placed 17th in the 4-man with Ally Kay, Jens Hullah and Luka Williams.

He was 17th in his first World Cup 2-man race in Sigulda a week later and was 13th in the 2-man European Championships at the same venue the following day. 

Adam earned selection for the 2024 World Championships in Winterberg in the 4-man competition, finishing 18th with Hullah, Austin Millward and Callum Dixon, and he ended the season with 14th and 15th place finishes in the 4-man and 2-man respectively at the Lake Placid World Cup in March. 

A serving member of the Royal Marines, Adam began his bobsleigh career competing for the Marines and the Royal Navy in 2017.

He comes from an active sporting background, having competed at national level in powerlifting - for which he has a 247.5kg deadlift personal best in the 82.5kg category - as well as rugby union and rugby 7’s for the Royal Marines and rugby league for the Royal Marines and Royal Navy teams. 

His time in the military has seen multiple deployments around the globe, including a tour of Afghanistan in 2010.
