Sixth spot for 2-man team

Brad Hall and Taylor Lawrence finished sixth in the 2-man bobsleigh at the World Championships in Lake Placid on Sunday.
The British pair climbed up from seventh after the first two runs on Saturday but were left with too much to do to challenge for the country’s first World Championship 2-man medal in 59 years.
Hall and Lawrence were sixth fastest in each of their final two runs run as they clocked a four-run time of 3 minutes 41.97 seconds.
Germany took yet another 1-2-3 as Francesco Friedrich pipped Johannes Lochner to gold by just three hundredths of a second and Adam Ammour won bronze.
Having claimed 21 of the 24 medals on offer during this year’s 2-man World Cup campaign, the Germans have now won 23 of the 30 medals at the last 10 2-man World Championships after a second successive clean sweep of the podium places by the same trio.
Friedrich’s win was his ninth 2-man World title and a 17th across 2-man, 4-man and team events, with the reigning back-to-back Olympic Champion clocking 3 minutes 39.32 seconds across Saturday and Sunday’s racing.
America’s Frank Del Duca was the highest non-German on home ice, with Switzerland’s Michael Vogt the other sled to finish above the Brits.
The GB2 team of Adam Baird and Olly Butterworth did not compete on Sunday after withdrawing from the race following a crash in yesterday's first heat.
Hall and Lawrence now turn their attentions to the 4-man competition next Saturday and Sunday when they look to repeat their medal feat from St Moritz two seasons ago.
They team up with Arran Gulliver and Greg Cackett as GB select the same crew that won the nation’s first 4-man medal at a World Championships for 84 years with a silver in 2023.
In the women’s monobob, Adele Nicoll finished 16th at her second World Championships.
The reigning, back-to-back British shot put champion came down in a time of 4 minutes 2.74 seconds.
Nicoll was 15th overnight but dropped a spot on Sunday in a race won by the USA’s Kaysha Love, who finished fifth in this year’s Overall World Cup standings but medalled in her last four races.
Germany’s Laura Nolte had won the previous two World Championships in Winterberg and St Moritz but had to settle for silver this time around as she finished 0.44 seconds adrift of Love’s time of 3 minutes 57.82 seconds.
Elana Meyers Taylor gave the home crowd even more to cheer about as she won bronze to take her top tier medal tally to 76 since her international debut for the US in 2007.
Nicoll goes again with Ashleigh Nelson in the women's competition next weekend.
