Autohorn extends vehicle partnership

The British Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association (BBSA) is delighted to announce that Autohorn Fleet Services will be continuing its vehicle partnership all the way through next year’s Olympic Winter Games in Milan Cortina.
Autohorn joined the team as the BBSA’s official vehicle supplier for both the bobsleigh and skeleton world class programmes ahead of the 2024/25 season, which started in South Korea in December and ends in the United States next month.
Based in York and now entering its 30th year, Autohorn supplies the team with a range of vehicles to transport athletes, staff and equipment across Europe, playing a key part in helping British bobsleigh and skeleton athletes bring home a staggering 27 World Cup medals this season.
“It’s been great to have Autohorn on board and to know that they will be part of the team through the next Olympics,” said the BBSA’s Executive Performance Director, Natalie Dunman.
We spend so much time on the road during the racing season so this partnership is vital for us at what is a crucial point in the Olympic cycle.
“The vast majority of the current season has been spent in Europe, with journeys from the UK and between race tracks predominantly overland, so knowing that we have vehicles that are both comfortable and reliable gives us one less thing to worry about when we are trying to beat the best in the world in both sports.
We plan every minor detail of our seasons with the aim of giving the team the best chance to win so the last thing we would want is for our athletes to be uncomfortable or cramped on those long journeys as we know that would have a negative impact on their performance. This partnership also gives our athletes and staff peace of mind: they know exactly how they will be travelling rather than worrying about whether they will end up with the right vehicle on a short-term hire in Europe.
“We’ve also been really impressed with the level of customer service we’ve received from Autohorn ever since we started the partnership: nothing has been too much trouble and there’s clearly a genuine interest there to help us achieve our goal - which is ultimately to win medals in both bobsleigh and skeleton at the next Olympics.”
Scott Jenkins, Autohorn Fleet Services Operations and Sales Director, commented on the partnership: "Autohorn is absolutely delighted to support the BBSA. We understand how important it is for the team to have the right, high quality transport for their competition schedule. We’ve supplied a mixture of vehicles - everything from long wheel base vans to carry the bobsleigh, through to people carriers to transport the athletes in comfort.
Our goal is to ensure that the vehicle element of the team’s preparation is absolutely optimal. I was lucky enough to see the teams in action in Germany recently and they are seriously impressive. We’ll be proudly supporting the team all the way!
The World Cup bobsleigh and skeleton season has been the country’s most successful ever.
Both sports have won multiple World Cup gold medals, with skeleton athletes Matt Weston and Marcus Wyatt ending the World Cup campaign as the top two sliders on the globe and the GB1 men’s bobsleigh crew also winning Overall World Cup medals in the 2-man, 4-man and combined categories.
The season concludes with the World Championships - the biggest event of the year - in Lake Placid in the United States of America from March 6-16th.
Weston will be looking to regain the crown he claimed in 2023 and Wyatt will be aiming to add global glory to the European title he took home in 2024, while Amelia Coltman, Freya Trabit and Tabby Stoecker will all hope to be in the medal mix having ended the World Cup campaign ranked No4, 7 and 8 in the world.
Brad Hall’s 4-man bobsleigh team also have high hopes of going one better than the historic silver they secured two seasons ago, while the 2-man race presents another realistic medal shot for Hall and Taylor Lawrence.
