Chief Medical Officer vacancy
The BBSA and the English Institute of Sport (EIS) are recruiting a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to work with the British Skeleton programme on their journey to the Beijing Olympic Winter Games.
The successful candidate will work with the British Skeleton programme for four hours a week and will combine their duties with an EIS multi-sport medical provision post for a further four hours.
Their role with the BBSA will see them provide sports medicine services to the British Skeleton team as they go in search of more international success following a hat-trick of medals at the last Olympics in South Korea two years ago.
Responsibilities will include:
- Strategically leading Sports Medicine services for the British Skeleton team
- Co-ordinating and managing the implementation, development and delivery of medical services for World Class Performance Programme athletes at training venues and camps overseas as appropriate
- Implementing a medical policy that communicates best practice operations
- Working as part of an inter-disciplinary team delivering services to elite athletes in a world-class high-performance training environment
There is no requirement for the post holder to complete regular travel, although the British Skeleton team may request travel to international competitions from time to time, at the request of the Performance Director.
However, the post holder should be prepared to be available to provide remote support to the travelling physiotherapist for urgent cases when athletes are training/competing abroad.
